“Heaven was created by an accumulation of Yang; the Earth was created by an accumulation of Yin.  Water and Fire are the symbols of Yin and Yang;

Yin and Yang are the source of power and the beginning of everything in creation.”

Fire and Water Balance

In Oriental medicine we seek balance in nature as well as in our bodies and minds.  In the western countries, the fire element is predominant and we tend to place a higher value on it. For example, in our fast-paced lifestyles, we lack regularity and there is a high pressure toward success and accomplishments.  Fire is an exciting element but also very stressful.  If we have too much fire (hyper-active Yang) we can reduce immunity, resistance to disease, and have various challenges such as insomnia, hypertension, high blood pressure, anxiety, heart palpitations, etc.  This means the essence of Fire naturally dries up the important element of Water which causes other challenges in our bodies and minds, such as weakness in the lower back, knees, reproductive system, as well as fatigue, paranoia, etc.

Ai Chi

In our daily life it is very difficult to slow down.  Our bodies and
minds cannot relax easily.  Slow and smooth Ai Chi movements (similar to Tai Chi) are an excellent solution to balance our Fire energy with the Water element by nourishing Yin.  Ai Chi helps us to feel and listen to our inner energy.  It is practiced in warm water and helps the Yin (water) energy to grow and to bring Yin and Yang, Water and Fire into harmony for a healthy body and mind.

EASY

Energetic Aquatic
Shiatsu Yoga is based on a combination of Ai Chi, Shiatsu and Yoga.  Shiatsu, a Japanese healing art, is based on the principal that the body can heal itself and overcome specific challenges to the body and mind.  It enables anyone to maximize health through the use of healing touch on particular acupressure points and conscious, gentle (Yin) yoga stretches along your body’s meridians.  It is very important to practice EASY for 30 minutes to 45 minutes daily to create balance in your body and mind. However, it is also beneficial to practice EASY as a 5 to 10 minute warm down after an active (Yang) workout. You will feel peaceful (Yin) energy flowing through your entire body.

  Oriental medicine believes that the balance of Yin and Yang is fundamental for life’s vitality and your well being.

It was pleasantly surprised with EASY.  It is!  Shinzo’s concentration & openness to healing is masterful. Minakshi is a great teacher: highly sensitive to nuance.  I found the charts and the dancerly taught movements most valuable.  This is one of the BEST workshops I have ever taken.                    ---- Helen Hennessey

EASY taught me how to open & relax into regeneration.  It taught me how each person can discover the space to find where energy is blocked and what they can do to help it move.  the feeling is what counts.  It was fun to learn how to connect with the five elements in my own body and how to ignite life into each one through movement, meditation and stretching.  there is no difficulty in the body that can persist without some agreement of the whole.  I believe that EASY can help the body, mind & sprit I get past the difficulties with a great gentleness and help to keep it going strong.
